There, she honed her organizational skills and cultivated a keen eye for detail, laying the foundation for her career in the industry.

For Lindsey, the most gratifying aspect of her work lies in witnessing the seamless execution of meticulously planned events. From the initial stages of planning to the moment guests revel in the occasion, she finds true fulfillment in seeing the magic of events unfold—the perfect blend of creativity, precision, and a genuine passion for crafting unforgettable moments.

Meet Anelise

Meet Anelise, the Venue Manager at The Penny. For the past eight years, she’s called SLO home, initially arriving to pursue her education at Cal Poly. Anelise graduated in 2020 with a degree in Event Management, falling in love with the Central Coast along the way.

Choosing to stay in the area after graduation, Anelise embarked on her journey with The Penny, starting as an intern and quickly finding her passion within the team. What began as a weekend pursuit evolved into a fulfilling career in event management.

Anelise’s favorite moments at events are when clients can fully immerse themselves in the experience, knowing that she and her team have everything under control. Whether it’s orchestrating the finer details or witnessing the infectious energy of guests on the dance floor during weddings, she finds immense joy in creating memorable experiences for all who walk through The Penny’s doors.


Meet Lauren

Meet Lauren, the Director of Operations at The Penny. With over 15 years of experience in the event industry, Lauren’s journey began with her successful bridal accessory business, crafting custom wedding accessories for brides and renowned brands like BHLDN. Transitioning her passion into a new venture, she spearheaded the bar catering branch of Sidecar, a thriving cocktail bar and restaurant.

During her tenure managing events for Sidecar and working across numerous venues from Palm Springs to Hearst Castle, Lauren envisioned bringing a unique urban-style venue to San Luis Obispo. In 2017, alongside her partners, she secured The Penny’s future home in a beautiful historic brick building, embarking on a two-year renovation journey.

Breathing new life into The Penny’s rich history has been a source of immense joy for Lauren. She finds great honor in her team’s role in creating unforgettable memories for their clients. One of her greatest pleasures is witnessing the transformation of their space to match each client’s vision. And when the DJ plays her favorite song, you’ll often find her leading the dance floor with infectious energy.
